June 17

Greg made another one of his spectacular breakfasts to start the day.  Pat and Greg have been collecting a lot of "gems" (rocks) so they each put a box together and they mailed them home today. We took about a mile stroll along the water from our campsite into the downtown area to look around and have lunch.  On the way back there was a sea otter swimming about 30 feet from shore.
We went to Kenai Fjords National Park to hike along Exit Glacier.  The terrain prevented us from getting out on the glacier but we hiked up through nearby snow fields for some super views of the glacier.  The hike was about 5 miles round trip, with an elevation gain of 2000 feet.  The trip down went a lot faster "Step Sliding" (glissading) across the snow fields.
